Pamir Prospecting Expedition
Pamir prospecting expedition was organized in March 31, 1953 and began conducting geological work in Gorno – Badakhshan Autonomous Oblast (GBAO) – Pamir. In the region in different years were discovered and explored 12 deposits and 54 display 23 kinds of minerals. Speaking about the kinds of mineral deposits which are now known in the region, it can be stated that the study of them, and the whole territory of the Gorno-Badakhshan is still insufficient. It is essentially different from other areas of study in Tajikistan. This situation is caused by a number of objective reasons, first of all, the remoteness of the area, its mountainous and difficult access. Performed to date, feasibility studies have shown that the Pamirs field can be developed with standard indicators of profitability, especially for scarce raw-material. One of the most important results of the expedition was the discovery of the Pamirs in the CIS major deposits of boron Yakarhar. Number of employees of the expedition is 112 people.
